Hello, and welcome to Straight from the Motormouth!

Whether it’s the glamour of single seaters like Formula One…

For those of you who are perhaps new around here and don’t know where this site came from, I set this up during my first year at university on the advice of one of my tutors as a way of showing I could be creative, and, although I was a bit sceptical to begin with, I decided to give it a go and see where it went…and it’s still here now! Sure, it probably wasn’t the best thing to be doing while trying to study for a law degree, but I often found it was a useful distraction whenever I needed a break from work or if I had a bit of spare time on my hands, and, even though I graduated nearly two years ago now, I’ve tried to keep it going ever since, although I’ve decided to reset it and start afresh for this year.

To be honest, I’ve always been a bit of a writer – at one point, I used to come up with my own versions of children’s stories just because I loved being able to put pen to paper…and also just because I could! As I got older, I started creating my own reports for fictional football matches and then tried to read them as if I was a commentator, but, once I grew out of that and realised that it was a lot more difficult than it looked, I decided it was probably best to stick to the writing, and really, it was only ever a matter of time before I started to combine this with motor racing.

…the more down-to-earth nature of touring cars…

As anyone who knows me well enough would be able to tell you, motorsport and cars have been a huge part of my life for just about as long as I can remember – in fact, some of my earliest memories as a 3 or 4 year old in the late 1990s were sitting in front of the TV with my dad and watching Formula One races, even though I had virtually no idea at the time of what was going on. Not long after that, he started taking me to actual race meetings at my local track (which is about an hour’s drive away from York in the north of England, where I’ve lived for the vast majority of my life), and, although I’ve not been able to get to anywhere near as many events as I’d have liked in recent years as my dad’s interest has dropped off, the sport is still very much in my blood.

Nowadays, I take just about every chance I get to watch whatever races are being broadcast on TV, as well as scouring the Internet to keep myself up to date with the latest developments, and, now I’ve finally got myself a job that guarantees me a reasonable, regular source of income, it shouldn’t be long before I’m back trackside as well (and, of course, when it does happen, I’ll make sure everything is written up and posted on here). In the future, I’d love to be able to go travelling – Europe would definitely be top of the list, but I’d also like to try to go a bit further afield as well – and do this kind of thing from different tracks and countries around the world, but, as much of a dream as that is…it’s still a hell of a way off!

…or the rough and tumble of rallying that takes your fancy, there’s always going to be something for you here, so come on in and have a look around!

Anyway, that’s enough rambling from me – this was only meant to be a brief introduction to me and the site, but…you know how these things can get sometimes! Hopefully, you’ll enjoy reading what I’ve got to say, and I’d love to hear from you as well, so feel free to get in touch!
